En la cuenca del Salado, dentro del partido de Pila, la Laguna Las Barrancas es una laguna somera del centro-este bonaerense, de orillas con juncos y campos bajos que se inundan con las crecientes. El pejerrey es el dueño de casa, con la perca de fondo y la tararira estival como acompañantes.
Se pesca embarcado a la deriva o de costa, con líneas de brazoladas y mojarra, buscando los cardúmenes de pejerrey que se mueven con el sol y el viento; la perca da buena acción a señuelo chico y lento, pegada al fondo. Cuando el agua se entibia, la tararira ataca entre la vegetación con señuelos de superficie, y conviene acero en el bajo por los dientes. En términos generales, el pejerrey y la perca dan lo mejor con el agua fresca, del otoño a la primavera. Pesca de llanura anegadiza, agua ancha y horizonte sin relieve.
