A hill-country lagoon at the foot of the sierras, near Mar del Plata and Sierra de los Padres, with clear water and a landscape unlike the plains. Pejerrey (silverside), tararira, dientudo and carp framed by hills.
The pejerrey is fished from a boat and from shore, best in cold water; the tararira and dientudo give lure action in summer. Its closeness to Mar del Plata and its hill setting make it a comfortable, picturesque outing, with beach resorts and boat ramps.

The pejerrey is a medium-sized fish with a delicate mouth, so the tackle leans to the fine and sensitive side. A recommended setup:
The philosophy of the tackle is simple: the finer and more sensitive it is, the more bites you will detect and the more you will enjoy the fight of this silver fish.
For the tararira a light-to-medium outfit is best, sturdy but comfortable to cast for hours. The setup depends on the method, but these are the specific recommendations:
Rod:
Reel:
Line:
Leader (essential):
Accessories:
Bottom fishing with boilies, corn or dough and a hair rig. Medium gear with rod pods and a bite alarm; it withstands long fights.
