En el extremo norte neuquino, dentro del departamento Minas, la Laguna Atreuco descansa en plena alta cordillera, cerca del límite. Es una laguna de altura remota, de aguas frías y limpias, con trucha arcoíris, trucha marrón y trucha de arroyo.
Se pesca de costa, buscando puntas y veriles: spinning con cucharitas y señuelos chicos para las arcoíris y las marrones, y mosca con ninfas y secas para las de arroyo, que suelen tomar cerca de la orilla al caer la tarde. Un flotador, donde esté habilitado, suma sectores que a pie no alcanzás. En términos generales, del arranque del verano y otra vez en otoño llegan los mejores momentos, siempre atento al viento de altura. Es un destino de expedición, lejano y callado, para quien valora la montaña brava tanto como la pesca.
