En el noroeste bonaerense, por la zona de Salto y Rojas, la Laguna La Brava ofrece un espejo pampeano de aguas ricas entre campo agrícola y juncales, muy distinta a su tocaya serrana de Balcarce. El pejerrey lleva la voz cantante, acompañado por la perca y, en la vegetación, por la tararira.
Al pejerrey se lo trabaja embarcado a la deriva o de costa, con líneas de brazoladas y mojarra, leyendo el pique fino y los cardúmenes que se mueven con el sol y el viento; la perca responde a señuelos chicos y lentos junto al fondo. En verano la tararira sale a cazar entre los juncos, con señuelos de superficie y acero en el bajo de línea para sus dientes. En términos generales, el pejerrey y la perca rinden mejor con el agua fresca, del otoño a la primavera. Laguna de la pampa húmeda, de tardes largas y cielo abierto.
