El manduví es un bagre alargado y sin escamas que se mueve entre el fondo y la media agua, en la corriente, y con hábitos principalmente nocturnos.
Pesca de fondo en la corriente
- Buscá canales con corriente media a fuerte, cabeceras de isla o la zona de "escalera" al pie de correnteras.
- Armá un aparejo de fondo con plomada suficiente para mantener la carnada firme contra la corriente, sin arrastrarse.
- Cebá con carnada viva o de olor: mojarra, morenita o achura, presentada cerca del fondo o a media agua.
- Apostate y esperá con la línea semi-tensa; el pique llega como una serie de tirones firmes.
- Clavá con decisión cuando sentís la corrida: el manduví traga rápido y se aleja con fuerza.
- Peleá con la caña baja, dejándolo correr con la corriente antes de recuperar terreno.
Embarcado, también se lo intercepta a la deriva, bajando la carnada hasta el fondo en los mismos canales donde se mueve el sábalo, su presa habitual.
Tips de guía: la noche y las primeras horas de la mañana son los momentos de mayor actividad. Tiene una boca grande y fuerte: sujetalo con cuidado al desenganchar, evitando el contacto directo con la boca.
