- Usá carnada de olor intenso: lombriz, achura, hígado o morena; cuanto más "penetrante", mejor.
- Apostate a partir del atardecer, cuando empieza a salir a alimentarse activamente.
- El pique es contundente, casi una frenada; dejalo tomar un instante y clavá firme.
- Peleá corto y con la caña baja: es un pez fuerte para su tamaño pero no corre demasiado lejos.
De día también puede caer cerca de sus refugios, pescando bien pegado a la orilla o entre raíces con carnada quieta.
Tips de guía: las noches cálidas y sin luna son las mejores. Manejalo con cuidado: tiene espinas pectorales y dorsal filosas que pueden pincharte al desengancharlo; sujetalo con un trapo húmedo o pinza.
